Amazing restaurant, with great food and a warm community atmosphere!

Dr Generosity has been exceeding Guests expectations for 6 years, providing
consistently GREAT FOOD and GREAT SERVICE! Bloor West Village loves Dr G's!

Don't go to this restaurant bad service, too dark to see (what are they hiding)and you are crammed in like sardines. The food is good but served warm not hot as food should be. Take your business down the street to Bloom where it is very bright, excellant service and run by a couple of very nice Canadian men, the chef is from the east coast, New Brunswick I think. Food is very tasty and served hot by very likable waiters (it's near Durie).

This Dr G's Guest has now written two negative, consecutive reviews after
dining at the restaurant on only one occasion. As the proud owner/operator
of Dr G's for over 6 years, I believe that all restaurants try very hard to
exceed their guests' expectations, and on some occasions, if this is not so,
we will do our very best to make our guests happy.
This guest did not allow us the opportunity to address her concerns at the time of her meal.In fact, I was sent a nasty letter, and not even given the opportunity to reply before these negative reviews appeared!
There was nothing that transpired that could not have been solved with an apology and a gift certificate.
If people get some joy from slammimg hard working, well meaning individuals, then these web sites exist for them.
I will continue to serve fantastic food, and provide my guests' with a wonderful dining experience! Dr G

Went there Sat Feb 20th service bad-due to no fault of the serves she needs to hire more. Had to wait to be seated by owner Julie, took her good 10-15 minutes to come from wherever to seat us. Food was warm instead of hot otherwise it would have been good, waiter too busy trying to serve all the other tables he had. Poured 1st glass of wine, never came back had to pour our own after that. Soup & salad was good but the calamari appetizer was too much food and over cooked. My liver was excellent but not hot & my husbands steak was a little dry over cooked. Also Julie should put a smile on her face!

    AMAZING!

    2009-07-13 15:34:02

Went with 3 other friends and wanted to sit outside so they put a reservation sign on a two seater and we waited at the bar for another 2 seater to be free. we brought our own wine and were delighted to find only a $2 corkage fee per bottle on a Wednesday. Everyone who served us was delightful. I ordered the calamari ceaser salad for around $12. Let's just say the name lives up to the meal. Extremely generous portion of calamari and salad which was more then I could finish on my own. everyone else's portions sizes were amazing for the price. Will and have gone back!

Amazing restaurant with a diverse menu and excellent staff. Will be back very soon!

I have to first preface this by saying that I work in the hospitality industry and have done so for the past 28 years.

I went for brunch today with two of my dear friends, we were to meet at 1130 as we knew it would be busy...I happened to get there at 1120 - stood in line and observed that there were several tables that were empty. I was greeted by the manager (which I found out later), and was then asked,

    2009-01-21 16:24:31

What a Great Restaurant! The food is consistently excellent & the service is always fantastic!

    2009-01-02 10:49:01

Excellent food and impecible service! Will return often!

The evening started out fine. The food was average, reasonably priced. The waiter also fine, but certainly not extraordinary, or exemplary, as he would later refer to himself. we had to ask three time to place our appetizer order, and twice for our drink order. As we were still waiting for one last member of our party(5 of us in total) we had indicated that we would prefer to wait to order our entrees. It was clear this annoyed him. 1/2 way through the meal he stopped waiting on us, and handed it off to someone else. The bill came, we all put in what we thought was our share. As we were getting ready to leave our server comes over and begins to belittle and berate us loudly over the fact that we had only left him a 10% tip. To be clear, this was not decided on, nor done intentionally, I guess collectively we all had felt he didn't deserve much more. He proceeded to stand there yelling at us for leaving less than the standard tip, especially appalled because of the exemplary service he had provided. He yelled about his livelihood and our lack of etiquette for a good 5 minutes, also pointing out that he has had to do this before with other customers. (Maybe then, the problem is not your customers, maybe it's you?) One of our party members told him THREE times we will look at the bill again before he finally stopped ranting and left our table. We then approached the manager to explain how horrified we were that he would speak to us that way..only to receive a response of well was anything wrong with the meal? and then justified this behaviour by saying he has to tip out at the end of the night. Needless to say our entire evening was ruined. I would STRONGLY advise against this restaurant, there are too many great places with great service in this city for an establishment to encourage their employees to treat customers in this way.

This restaurant was a huge disappointment for the whole family. We made a reservation for 13 people and as soon as we arrived, we were disappointed that we couldn't all sit together as a family. The food, we all thought, was way to overpriced considering it wasn't so great. Some of us actually said 'what a waste of money... we will never come back here...' I've had my shares of bad restaurants, but this one was the worst! I ordered the Portobello mushroom melt, wasn't good.. Most of us ordered different entrees and only one was satisfied with the food, which was the 'salmon wellington'. Our server was not attentive at all, he also took too long to take our orders. We all decided never to come back to this restaurant again! Worst experience ever. I recommend to not to eat here!

What a dissapointment, went along with few mums and kids, owner (Cary) was in a bad mood, it was a bother for him to bring out high chairs, btw get your high chairs fixed as straps are broken, not safe for the little ones. Food was average, kids meals were huge...who are you kidding as if 3yrs olds can eat overcooked monster burgers!!! Staff was stressed out....service was average. Will never eat there again.

It was not that I was in a bad mood, but simply reacting to unruly children that were not being properly supervised by their parents. Children have always been welcome at Dr G's, but parents must be aware that many other restaurant
patrons would like to enjoy their meals and conversations without interuption.
Unfortunately, one of our four high chairs recently lost one clip, but is is
being replaced as soon as it arrives. Our Children's Menu is meant for ages up
to 12 years old, so it's certainly better to serve a larger portion than a smaller one! ( the name is Generosity) We have no problem having two small children share one meal. We take pride in our Guests' satisfaction, and will
always strive to exceed expectations. Cary ( Dr G)

I have gone to this restaurant with so many people for so many different occasions and have never had a bad experience. The wait staff are exceptional, professional always courteous and accommodating. They will give advice, ensure that if you have dietary restricitons they are adhered to and will always go the extra mile. The food is great and I can't thnk of anywhere else in the neighbourhood that I would ever go.

    2007-06-24 19:58:40

    Makes me nautious.

    2006-12-11 14:12:06

I live in the area and go often for brunch. It can get a bit loud but I have always had wonderful service and food. They also have really cheap corkage fees on Mon-Wed evenings ($1-$3).

    2006-10-18 16:30:47

Very good food. Salad bowls are neat, but totally useless. Service is friendly. I recommend the Club Sandwich with Roasted Red Pepper Mayo

    2006-08-01 12:45:45

My mouth waters at the thought of Dr. G's brunch. The stuffed french toast is to die for.

    2006-07-19 23:03:27

I lunched here with the New Moms group I belong to. The staff was very accomodating considering we had babes in tow. They assured us beforehand that they'd make space for our monster strollers and that a change station was also available. Upon arriving, we could see that the restaurant was indeed mother and baby friendly as other mothers were found enjoying themselves inside.

    2006-06-28 09:05:11

Wow, fantastic food, prices and people.

    2006-05-14 11:18:51

The food was excellent. Service poor. We were sat 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. An hour before our meal came to us. People that were sat after us had left the restaurant well before us.

    2006-04-30 20:46:41

This restaurant is hands down the best in BWV, and has the best brunch in the city. I used to have to drag my husband out for brunch, but since going to Dr. Generosity, he's out the door faster than me! We haven't been for dinner yet, but anticipate this becoming a regular option in our dinner-out dining options.

    2006-04-16 15:39:46

Great Toronto Restaurant. Great staff and service. A small, neighbourhood restaurant with amazing food and beverage menu. All you can eat Pasta on Wednesday and sauces made from scratch. Great fried Calamari. Brunch is great, Prime Rib on Sundays, good draught beer selection. Prices are so reasonable. We are regulars. Take people visiting from out of town all the time. Nice location in Bloor West Village.

    2006-03-23 23:49:39

Amazing restaurant. I try to visit as frequently as possible. Family friendly, yet great atmosphere for intimate dinners for two. Food quality is impecable and service amazing.

    2006-03-16 15:28:08

Very great dining experience. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Fun place to sit with a glass of wine and appetizer on the patio and people watch. I have only gone a few times since moving out of the area, however I will be planning a party in their private 2nd floor function area soon. Highly recommended.

    2006-02-15 15:26:32

I love eating at Dr. Generosity! The food is amazing, the staff is wonderful and I am always left wanting more. With it's amazing selection of beer and cocktails to the extensive menu and daily specials who could ask for more. The owners and their family are absolutely wonderful and always welcoming. I encourage everyone to check out the brunch menu on Saturday and Sunday! It is by far the best brunch in Toronto.

    2005-12-19 15:19:22

    2005-09-09 00:29:42

Truly one of the best restaurants around - great homemade comfort foods, reasonable prices and fantastic staff. The Caesar salad and sweet potato fries are AMAZING!!!

    2005-08-11 14:52:56

Fab Food and Fab Service - best brunch in the entire city. The owners truly are accomodating and friendly. They really know how to run a restaurant.

    2005-07-12 16:34:21

preferred it when the restaurant was the rebel. Owners are not hospitible. We were regulars. No longer frequent restaurant.

    2005-03-09 18:30:14
